Submission Guidelines
Who may submit?
- All papers (including term papers and honor theses) written by undergraduates are eligible. Authors do not have to be undergraduates currently as long as the submitted papers were written in their undergraduate years.
- Papers should not be more than 5 years old.
Submission procedures:
- All interested authors should first submit a 500-word abstract to the Managing Editor for prior screening. This abstract should summarize the major findings and describe how the data was collected.
- Upon approval of the abstract, authors will be invited to submit the full paper with a research chronology in paper and electronic format. The research chronology should describe in some detail both the agonizing and exhilarating aspects of the research process.
Evaluation of submissions:
- Papers will be accepted or rejected by a small but stable group of editors from universities around the world who share the same editorial philosophy and are committed to speedy double-blind review.
- Editorial decisions will be made within one month of submission of full papers. Papers will be published within one month of acceptance.
Evaluation criteria:
- Investigative research - Opus1 gives preference to economic papers that are based on first-hand investigative research instead of highly aggregated data collected by someone else. See With citizen science, people take research into their own hands.
- Readability - Papers will be accepted on the basis of originality of ideas and readability. Only a minimum amount of technical sophistication is expected.
